How to Use the CZUR Aura Pro
The CZUR Aura Pro is a foldable overhead book scanner. Its 14MP camera sits on an arm above the desk, and it scans material smaller than A3, including open books. "CZUR Aura Pro how to use" is one of the most common searches about it, so here's the process from unboxing to a finished, searchable PDF.
This walk-through is based on CZUR's published specifications and product information for the Aura Pro.
Stage 1: Set it up
- Unfold the scanner. Open the arm fully so the camera sits above the scanning area.
- Lay down the scanning surface. Place a plain, dark, non-glossy surface under the scan area if one is supplied, or use a dark desk. Contrast helps the software find page edges.
- Choose your spot. Keep it away from a window with direct sun and from a ceiling light that reflects off glossy pages. The Aura Pro has its own side light, so even room light is enough.
- Connect it. Plug the USB cable straight into your computer, not into a hub. CZUR lists USB 2.0 and Windows (XP/7/8/10/11), macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon and macOS 12 or later on Intel Macs.
- Install CZUR's software for the Aura Pro from CZUR's support site, then open it. You should see the scan area on screen.
Stage 2: Your first scan
- Start with a single sheet. Place it in the center of the scan area. Check the on-screen image in the software and the 2-inch preview screen on the scanner to confirm the whole page is in frame.
- Scan. Press the scan button in the software, or use the foot pedal. The foot pedal keeps both hands free, which matters once you move on to books.
- Check the result. The software crops to the page edge. If the crop cuts into text, move the page closer to the center and scan again.
Stage 3: Scanning a book
- Open the book flat-ish, centered under the camera. It doesn't need to be pressed down.
- Let the laser lines guide you. The Aura Pro projects three laser lines across the spread. The software uses them to measure the curve of the pages and flatten it.
- Hold the pages if you need to. Keep fingers on the outer margins, well away from the text, so they don't cover words in the scan.
- Turn, press, repeat. Turn the page, press the pedal, and move on. CZUR lists about 2 seconds per page or spread.
- Use the side light for glossy paper. If you see glare on coated pages, adjust the side light and room lights until it disappears from the image on screen.
Stage 4: Export
- Review the pages. Delete blank or failed scans and reorder if needed.
- Choose the format. Export as images, as a PDF, or as a searchable PDF using OCR. Searchable PDF lets you find words inside the scanned book later.
- Name and save. Give the file a clear name with the title and date; a long book scan is easy to lose among numbered files.

Is the Aura Pro the right scanner?
For very thick books or the most detail, the ET MAX takes A4 books up to 50 mm at 410 dpi. For loose A3 sheets, the Shine800A3 Pro is simpler. Our buying guide compares all four.
