CZUR Book Scanners

CZUR's book scanners let you digitize bound pages without cutting the spine or pressing the book flat on glass. A camera on an arm looks down at the open book, three laser lines trace the curve of each page, and CZUR's software flattens the curve, splits the spread into two pages and erases fingertips at the margins. A foot pedal and automatic capture on page turn keep both hands free for the book.

Two models cover this group. The ET MAX is the high-end choice, with a 38MP sensor, about 410 dpi by default and room for books up to 50 mm thick at A4 page size. It also has side lights, an HDMI output for presenting and Linux support (Ubuntu 20.04–24.04) alongside Windows and macOS. The Aura Pro is the lighter, foldable option, with a 14MP sensor, and it scans material smaller than A3. It folds down to a small footprint when you're done.

Both also scan loose single sheets (the ET MAX up to A3, the Aura Pro material smaller than A3), so one unit covers books, notebooks, drawings and everyday paperwork. Exports include searchable PDF, Word and Excel, with text recognition in 180+ languages.

How to choose: pick the ET MAX if thick textbooks, ledgers or large archives are a regular job, or if you want the most detail per page. Pick the Aura Pro if your books are of ordinary thickness and you value a lower cost and easy storage. For a fuller comparison, read the CZUR review or see how both stack up against the ScanSnap SV600.

How to choose a book scanner

Start with the thickest book you plan to scan. CZUR lists the ET MAX for books up to 50 mm at A4 (35 mm at A3). If your shelf holds thick textbooks, bound ledgers or archive volumes, that points to the ET MAX.

Next, think about detail. The ET MAX's 38MP sensor gives about 410 dpi by default, against the Aura Pro's 14MP sensor. For reading, sharing and searchable text, the Aura Pro covers most everyday pages; for fine print, maps or images you want to keep at higher quality, the extra resolution helps.

Then consider your setup. The ET MAX adds an HDMI 1.4 output, a 2.4-inch screen, top and side lighting, and Ubuntu 20.04–24.04 support next to Windows and macOS. The Aura Pro runs on Windows (XP/7/8/10/11) and macOS (13+ on Apple Silicon, 12+ on Intel Macs) and folds down, so it suits a shared desk or a home office where the scanner gets put away between jobs. Both use three laser lines, a foot pedal and text recognition in 180+ languages.
